The Greatest Band of the 90s

Philtrid's Music Page

Oasis

Although The Cure are still around today in the 90s, I would not put them down here, as their prime has already gone and passed. The 90s have been an exciting era in the world of music, with literally thousands of new bands that have surfaced - some have gone on to become worldwide sensations, others have returned to the quiet life from which they came. But because so many bands are constantly competing for new recognition, it really takes a lot to push a band with some mates past their pub gigs and into worldwide status. One such new and exciting band first made themselves heard in 1994 with their first single called Supersonic, the band we know today as Oasis.

Although the Gallagher brothers are foul-mouthed brats who like to cause trouble at every turn in their controversial life in the lime-light, you'd think that surely some other band (with some manners) would be able to score all the hype that Oasis have been getting. But music is not about manners, music is about music, and that's where Noel Gallagher comes in. The brains, producer, and songwriter for the band, you can't deny the fact that Noel Gallagher has a special gift in crafting infectious pop songs. That combined with Liam's inimitable vocals and the rest of the band's accompanying music, and you get one devastating wall of sound that has swept all before them (hmm, could that be a Wonderwall)? The quality of music that is still being produced by Oasis (even from their b-sides) is equalled by none, and Some Might Say they have even surpassed their all-time heroes, The Beatles.
